Southern Grammar Lesson

  • Y’ALL: You all
  • YA’LL: Ya (you) will; you’ll
  • Y’ALL’LL: You all will
  • YA’LL’LL: Syntax error (illegal operand)
  • ALL Y’ALL: I inexplicably refer to individuals as “y’all,” thereby necessitating a further syllable to disambiguate plural from singular constructions
  • CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN: Y’all heard of chicken fried steak? Like that, ‘cept with chicken.
