How do I learn to love God?
Posted on Jun 9, 2011

That’s actually pretty funny. I remember one of my favorite priests, Fr. Dennis (may he rest in peace in the eternal Kingdom), who had really really bad laryngitis one Sunday morning. So he signed the whole Mass including his sermon in American Sign Language. His wife interpreted. Of course, interpreting the text of the rite was easy; she had only to read it out of the missal. But his sermon, she said, was tricky. Neither of them used ASL all that often, so it was a bit touch and go in spots. I imagine that signing the consecration maybe got a bit muddled with the manual acts. I didn’t ask.
