Orthodox Study Bible

It’s finally here!

The Orthodox Study Bible, a project begun over twenty years ago, is now complete and available for ordering.

A previous edition, published in 1993, was simply the New King James Version of the New Testament and Psalms, with Orthodox notes. But the new edition features a complete translation of the Old Testament, including the Psalms, from the Greek texts used by all Eastern Orthodox Christians. The books that are present in the Eastern Christian canon but removed from Protestant versions, are found in the expected locations in the Old Testament, not isolated in an “Apocrypha” section.

The notes emphasize the Church’s approach to Scripture: In writing the origin and history of the people of God, the prophets were describing the salvation that would be accomplished in Christ. Images, types and shadows of Christ fill the Old Testament, and find their fulfillment in the New.
